Recruitment at VCU

Ah, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! Recruitment season! I have always been a very outgoing person. So, naturally, the fact I get that to do that for an entire weekend while meeting potential new sisters seemed fun.

This was my first formal recruitment ever, and first time being on the sister-side. I came through in Spring 2017 (which was informal recruitment), which meant that I really had to prepare myself for this weekend. I was determined to have fun and make sure the weekend was a success for my sorority.

My chapter, Rho Beta of Alpha Omicron Pi at Virginia Commonwealth University, gained so many wonderful women. Despite the long days and losing my voice, being a part of recruitment was a great experience. Even though I am close with my sisters, we bonded even more over the four-day weekend.

My favorite part of recruitment was Bid Day. Seeing all of the new members run home to join our big, happy family was a very emotional moment for me. Especially when our Pi Chi’s (aka, disaffiliated sisters) ran home, too.
