The Perfect Shirt Part 1

We know, the choices can be overwhelming and the terminology is sometimes confusing…top fabric, bottom fabric, stitching and sizing. We here at JennaBenna & Co want to make this experience as easy as possible for you! We are starting a 5 part post dealing with apparel choices. Part one will deal with the sizing questions you might have.

Unisex/Classic Fit – A fit that is typically “sized” as a men’s size. It is a perfect choice for house letters as it has a wide span of sizes. Additionally, it is a relaxed fit which looks good on any body type. JennaBenna & Co has a wide selection of unisex and classic fit shirts including our Bella, Canvas and American Apparel shirts.

Fitted/Ladies Fit Shirts – this fit is not relaxed. It is meant to show off your curves and flatter your figure. Ladies fit sometimes indicates a tapered fit that is somewhere in between unisex and fitted. It is very important, when purchasing your letters, that you pay close attention to the size. If you purchase a fitted shirt too tight, you letters will most likely pull and pucker. Additionally, the pulling puts stress on the stitches and causes tiny holes around the corners of your letters. When in doubt, always call or email before ordering if you have any questions or refer to the size chart for measurements.

Racerback – This is terminology for the back of a tank. It is very flattering to the shoulders and back and gives the “average” tank a fancier look.

How to measure yourself and compare it to the measurements online:

All shirt widths that you see listed on our site are measured from under the arms, chest area, while laid flat. All Lengths we have listed are measured from the bottom of shirt to the highest point of the shoulder. If you are not sure what size to buy, try measuring a similar shirt that you already own, that fits well, and compare those measurements to the size chart.

These measurements are approximate and are accurate for the majority of the shirts we carry, however, the exact measurements can and do vary slightly.

When in doubt, always contact us via email or phone to ask before ordering as all products, because they are so customized, are not returnable!

Check out Part 2 when we talk about the different fabrics our shirts are made out of and answer some questions about which works best for the looking you are trying to achieve!
